Pre/Post Cruise Hotel Review: The Most Photographed Hotel in the World is the Backdrop of a Cruise to Quebec City

One of the highlights  - literally!  - of a Canada & New England cruise is the cliffside port of historic Quebec City. At over 400 years old, Quebec is one of the oldest cities in North America, the only walled city north of Mexico, with a preserved Old Town that feels more like Europe than many places in France!

The centerpiece of the Old Town, rising from the mighty St. Lawrence, up to the old city walls and cliff top above the river, is the fairytale-like Fairmont Chateau Frontenac.

World's Greatest Cruises sailed to Quebec City on a luxury Seabourn Canada & New England cruise, and naturally, Lynn Elmhirst, the producer and host of World's Greatest Cruises, insisted we had to visit this famous hotel. Rising on the cliff above the old port, the iconic, French-chateau-like building is the icon of Quebec City. As much as the Eiffel Tower says 'Paris' or the Statue of Liberty says “New York City,' the Chateau Frontenac says ‘Quebec.’

What many people don't realize is that the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac's position towering above the 400+ year old Quebec City Old Town and walls - the mainstay of the phenomenal city's skyline - makes it the most photographed hotel in the world.

It's the perfect hotel for a pre- or post- cruise stay in Quebec City, and in this video, Lynn takes a look inside at its combination of Old World history and charm, with a luxury modern renovation for its 125th anniversary a few years ago.
