Imagine the wonder of a solar eclipse at sea, with no lights from land dimming the spectacle of the astronomical wonder in the skies overhead, with the waves lapping at your ship’s hull below.
That’s the experience guests on UnCruise Adventures’ cruise to view a solar eclipse in Baja California in April, 2024.
It’s a dedicated sailing that perfectly positions the ship and its guests for viewing the eclipse off the coast of Mazatlan, and it follows the small-ship adventure cruise line’s sold-out solar eclipse cruise to Belize in 2023.
At the exact moment of the eclipse on April 6, 2024, guests on the ship will be expertly positioned for optimal viewing of the celestial event so you don’t miss a moment of the sight of the moon passing in front of the sun and the skies darkening in that surreal way of this mystical phenomenon.
On the other 6 days of the week-long voyage, guests can immerse themselves in the other natural wonders of the picturesque waters of Mexico’s Baja California, what UnCruise Adventures calls “an adventurous playground of steep red bluffs, sun kissed private beaches, charismatic marine life, sea lion snorkels and more.”
The cruise line has been sailing to Baja for decades, and it has established knowledge of the region and a cohort of experienced guides and naturalists with local expertise. They provide in-depth insights into Baja California’s culture, history and incredible natural riches, ranging from early explorations of the famous author John Steinbeck, to modern-day conservation efforts working to preserve Baja’s unique eco-system.
Daily adventures take place on land as well as sea, using the ship’s included watersports equipment, including snorkeling, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding excursions that take you into the crystal-clear waters and up close to marine life, like Baja’s famous whale sharks, humpback and gray whales, seals, sea lions, rays and more.
The small-ship atmosphere with only about 120 guests means you are surrounded by like-minded travelers you get to know and share your experiences and sense of wonder at the rare phenomenon of the solar eclipse, and your uniquely Baja Californian marine adventures.
